Abstract: |
<summary>A watching brief was undertaken during the laying of a new water pipe along the route of an older one; the pipeline ran from a man-hole cover south of the B6318 to another man-hole cover south-west of the western barn at Rudchester Farm. The following archaeological features were revealed during the course of the investigation: gutter blocks; evidence of buildings, comprising a possible threshold block and east-west foundations; flagged flooring, possibly indicative of the interior of a building; a road surface, possibly that of the {italon}via sagularis{italoff}; and possible remains of the {italon}vicus{italoff}. {italon}Sec(abr)(11b){italoff} |
