Abstract: |
Large quantities of medieval pottery were recovered from the site. The main building complex of the medieval manor was identified in the previous excavations. This would have been a timber framed building or series of interconnected buildings forming a cohesive whole on a foundation platform. The floor plan of the buildings was reconstructed from the linear arrangements of flat-surfaced stones, which would have been the load-bearing elements of the walls and were built up to a required level. Further medieval pits were found. Medieval cobbling sealed a series of post holes and beam slots for timbers. [Au(adp)] |
