Abstract: |
<summary>A watching brief during the construction of new corridor floor levels and access ramp identified that most of the previous alterations and repairs were related to either the raising of floor levels or the decay of the lower wall-framing, with some of the alterations probably related to the construction and demolition of the theatre. The newel stair base was found to be constructed of sunken margin type bricks, and it was suggested that comparative study of this type of construction with other examples of sunken margin type bricks found elsewhere in the building could establish a more accurate construction date for the Great Hall. {italon}AIP{italoff}{spacea} |
