Abstract: |
The results of the evaluation were almost entirely negative. The whole area appeared to have been extensively landscaped, presumably when the current road system was laid out. In test pits 1 and 2 natural subsoil was directly overlain by modern deposits. In test pit 3 a possible truncated wall foundation lay c.200mm below the current ground surface. It was possible that this deposit related to the 19th century church, or conceivably to an earlier structure. [Au(abr)] |
