Abstract: |
The study area lies within the an area of known archaeological importance to the west of the Roman town of Corinium. Archaeological discoveries from as early as 1867 within the study area itself as well as more recent observations in the vicinity, suggested that significant Roman deposits were likely to survive on site. These included the western defensive wall and rampart of the old town, as well as a number of human burials suggestive of an extra-mural cemetery in the area. The former Cirencester Railway Station Building also stands within the study area.[Au(abr)] |
