Abstract:		 A reconnaissance survey was carried out over Areas A and C of the proposed route of a bypass at Oakham. This was followed up by detailed magnetometer survey over ten sites within Areas A and C. The survey successfully located evidence of ridge and furrow in each area together with other anomalies of archaeological interest such as possible kiln sites and pits or post holes. The surveys on three of the sites in Area C also located known cropmarks. [Au(abr)]
