Abstract: |
Modern made ground and rubble was seen overlying the natural sandstone rock. A well was discovered cut in to the rock, with an adjoining shaft and standpipe. The well has been finally backfilled with 19th/20th century rubble and presence of two wooden planks across it suggested it had been reused as a toilet. A pipe drain cut into the sandstone that fed in the well further clarified this. [Au(abr)] |
