Abstract: |
Following earlier site investigations and an evaluation, archaeological monitoring and recording was carried out during the construction of a new drainage facility in East Field, Lacock Abbey on behalf of the National Trust. The works revealed more of the extensive spreads of demolition rubble thought likely to be derived from post-Dissolution destruction of the infirmary range. No in situ structural elements were noted during this phase of activity, however, and very few additional artefacts were retrieved. Excavation of the outfall pipe trench provided an oblique section across the course of an 18th century mill leat, the depth of trenching was not sufficient to establish the base of the channel. Other undatable features were recorded adjacent to the leat. [Au(abr)] |
