Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the excavation of service trenches required for the renovation of derelict farm buildings into residential dwellings. The site was within the bounds of a medieval moated manor house. Five trenches were excavated. Trenches 4 and 5 revealed an archaeologicial horizon. Much of the material on site had been re-cycled. Thus, in the absence of modern materials to confirm recent dating for features, the presence of building materials from almost any period after 1500 was unlikely to be particularly diagnostic.
