Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of a business park. Previous desk-based assessment had identified that field boundaries associated with the medieval Howley Grange had been recorded near the site, and that Bronze Age burnt mounds lay 1.5km to the east. A separate geophysical survey had recorded several linear anomalies at the site. During the evaluation, no features of archaeological interest were revealed, although post-medieval ceramic fragments and pieces of clay pipe were recovered from modern plough scars. Observations suggested that the geophysical anomalies were of a geological rather than an archaeological origin. [AIP] |
