Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment of the proposed site of an office building identified that two major prehistoric sites, one of Neolithic and one of Late Bronze Age date, had been recorded in the vicinity of the site. Other remains found in the surrounding area included the site of a Romano-British farmstead, a possible moated site, prehistoric flint flakes, evidence of late Saxon occupation and the Egham Causeway, a 13th century road. It was concluded that the site had a high archaeological potential, but that previous development was likely to have destroyed any archaeological evidence which may have existed. It was recommended that no further work should be carried out. [AIP] |
