Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in response to a planning condition. Four trenches were investigated. Trenches 1 and 2, located adjacent to the High Street, revealed evidence of late Medieval/early post-medieval pitting into the natural brickearth and a possible field or property boundary running perpendicular to the street. Trenches 3 and 4, located towards the south of the site adjacent to Orphir Terrace, revealed further isolated pits and a ditch of comparable date together with additional pits and wells associated with the early 19th century tenement structures known to have stood in this area.
