Abstract:
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by AOC (Archaeology) Ltd for West Sussex County Council in advance of the proposed construction of a new culvert to carry the River Stor under Storrington High Street, as part of a flood alleviation scheme for Storrington. Trenches were opened at the intended locations of the inlet chamber in the Anchor Public House car park and the discharge chamber north of the High Street. Post-medieval dump deposits were encountered which overlay undated silting in the former marshy area north of the High Street between Old Mill Drive and the River Stor. (Au)
