Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at a proposed development site, which lay to the south of a Scheduled Ancient Monument comprising an area of cropmarks of Neolithic, Bronze Age and Saxon date. During the evaluation, a ditch or hollow containing large sherds of possible Saxon pottery, bone, charcoal and waterlogged wood was recorded. An undated ditch, a possible post hole and a gully containing a dog bone were also observed. Medieval pottery, animal bones and two prehistoric struck flints were recovered. Deposits of peat and alluvium were noted. [AIP] |
