Abstract: |
<summary>An archaeological evaluation of the proposed site of the Heller Machine Tools UK factory, to the east of Ravensbank Drive at its junction with Thornhill Road, Redditch, was carried out during October 1992. 26 test-pits were excavated by hand through the topsoil and alluvial deposits. However, no significant features or artefactual scatters were noted in the excavated holes. The development area did, however, contain ridge and furrow, of probably early 19th century date, and a number of disused clay extraction pits. The probability is that the clay was used for marling, as part of agricultural improvements. {italon}Au(adp){italoff} {italon}SMR Primary Record Numbers:{italoff} HWCM15403 |
