Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the rebuilding of a row of garages which had been demolished due to subsidence. The development site lay within the medieval town of Hatfield Broad Oak, which featured the remains of a Benedictine priory and the probable site of a church which had been mentioned in the Domesday Book. During the watching brief, no archaeological deposits or artefacts were observed. It was concluded that the subsidence of the garages had not been caused by the presence of archaeological features.
