Abstract: |
Evaluation on a site proposed for development, thought to be located within the area of the medieval priory at Newent which was founded in 1081, revealed stone footings interpreted as the remains of the corner of the wall of a large stone building which may have had an external corner butress. It was thought that the building either post-dated the medieval Benedictine priory or dated to the later years of the priory before its suppresion. [Au] |
