Abstract: |
Four evaluation trenches were excavated and recorded. The study area was situated in a part of Bristol that had for a long time been known to be archaeologically sensitive, a fact borne-out still further by the results of the present evaluation. The four trenches contained intact features and deposits that were successfully characterised as either medieval or post-medieval. No evidence for the human occupation of the area prior to medieval times was encountered. The features and deposits included buried garden cultivation soils, masonry structures, cut-features and construction make-up deposits, many of which were supported by reliable dating evidence.
