Abstract: |
The watching brief revealed evidence of a brick structure containing compacted iron blast furnace slag. The bricks showed evidence of vitrification on the interior surface of the structure and there was a thick burnt zone in the surrounding natural which suggested great heating. The feature was cautiously interpreted as the remains of the hearth from a blast furnace. [Au(abr)] |
