Abstract: |
Between 24th February 2006 and 9th June 2006, a watching brief was maintained during groundwork associated with a water supply mains upgrade at two locations: Habin Bridge (also known as Rogate Bridge) and Durford Bridge, Rogate. At both locations a considerable depth of gravel road base was identified, suggesting the likelihood that the existing road surface was considerably higher than in the past. Although no direct evidence for this was found at Durford Bridge, at Habin Bridge a section of well constructed stone-built roadway was found c.800mm below the existing tarmac road. [Au(abr)] |
