Abstract: |
Archaeological monitoring was carried out on groundworks and the demolition of walls at the site. Several features were identified that belonged to the former 17th-18th century Charles II palace. Wall foundations, former chalk floor surfaces and a large brick lined shaft, possibly a Ice House were identified. A carved limestone Greenman face was identified in the one of the demolished walls, possibly a former keystone in an arch. [Au(abr)] |
