Abstract: |
The study area was of considerable archaeological potential. Although practically no excavation of the site had taken place, a very significant number of monuments were known from aerial photographs. Many appeared to have related to round barrows of Late Neolithic or Bronze Age date, suggesting the presence of a large funerary landscape in this area. Evidence for activity during other periods was less pronounced, but Roman and medieval sites and finds were known both within, and immediately outside, the study area. [Au] |
