Abstract: |
The assessment identified that evidence relating to earlier activity in the surrounding area was relatively diverse in its date, with a Bronze Age axe and sherds of Claudian pottery being recovered to the south of the proposed development. Early cartographic evidence revealed that the site was arable land until the house and gardens of Holly Hill were established. No other buildings were marked along this stretch of Holly Lane, on either the Rocque or Tithe map. It was therefore unlikely that any settlements of medieval or later date were located in this area, so close to Banstead village and the Park boundary. [Au(adp)] |
