Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was conducted on the site of a proposed development. Two pits were excavated, one in the area currently used as a car park, the other in an area basemented in the 19th century. The first pit showed a sequence of deposits including dumped layers dating to the Saxon period and a possible floor surface; the second pit showed that the current basement had been cut deeply, removing most archaeological material.
