Abstract: |
A small excavation revealed an Early-Middle Iron Age farmstead, represented by a round house ring gully, a large pit or well and two possible Iron Age gullies. The pottery assemblage from the ring gully suggested occupation from around 500-300 BC. The large quantity of iron slag suggested metalworking, almost certainly smelting, at the site. A post-medieval field boundary ditch was also identified. [Au(abr)] |
