Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in order to determine the former extent of two partially infilled lakes created by Capabiility Brown in the 18th century. Of these, the full extent of the Middle Lake could not be firmly established. A wall likely to have been associated with the gardens of the Tudor precursor to the extant manor house was identified. The extent of the Upper Lake was established and corresponded closely to its depiction on the 1838 tithe map of the site. [Au(adp)] |
