Abstract: |
Draws together evidence for the production and use of Roman ceramics in York from c. AD 71 through to the fifth century, summarising key ceramic information relating to 260 excavations. A `Lamp catalogue' is by D M Bailey (929--30). The section on `Mortaria' (930--43) incorporates numerous stamp identifications and comments by K F Hartley. `Samian' is examined by B M Dickinson (943--8 & 950--66). `Amphorae' are covered by D F Williams (967--73). `Thin section analysis' of the fabrics is by Ruth Pryor (1031--7). |
