Abstract: |
The inventories of the York Diocese, of which about 100 survive, are a source of contemporary information about medieval life in York and Yorkshire, providing room by room details of the houses and listing the deceased's possessions on an item by item basis. They give a detailed view of medieval living conditions and provide information on a wide range of topics in social and economic history. Includes an introduction by the translator, a glossary in which medieval terminology is explained, an index of people, and an index of places and subjects. |
