Abstract: |
Comprises two reports covering investigations associated with the A74/M74 highway upgrade. The first part (3-15) interpets the results of a survey, using gradiometry and resistivity methods, of an area to the north of Fairy Knowe. The background to the investigations, the geology, and the survey strategy are discussed before a presentation of the data. Anomalies due to recent activity were revealed, although these may mask earlier features, and a possible circular enclosure was indicated. The second part (18-19) describes an undated linear ditch, flanked on each side by a bank, which was recorded by an emergency section during construction work. The feature is thought to have been an eighteenth-century enclosure boundary. |
