Abstract: |
Reports on a series of excavations undertaken on medieval or later rural settlement sites along the northern shores of Loch Tay (specifically: Milton Lawers, North Cragganester, and the Ben Lawers Nature Trail). Ten trenches were excavated in three separate locations targeting deposits and structures from the loch shore to 620m OD within the shieling grounds associated with the Edramucky burn. Discoveries included: a possible boundary wall to the Lawers church; a mill tailrace within the Lawers deserted village; a possible low shieling at North Cragganester; and shielings (respectively associated with fifteenth- and sixteenth-century pottery and worked quartz). |
