Abstract: |
The work revealed the bases of two ''Beehive'' Kilns, one dating to around 1900, the other to 1961. The kiln bases had been heavily truncated at demolition during the 1970s and before. Part of the floor and foundations of a drying shed or warehouse were also recorded. This may have had some heating, suggested by fragmentary brick foundations. Some bricks manufactured at the site were collected from the demolition horizon, including bricks with coloured glazes, and bricks stamped with a Woodward stamp. |
