Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report Abstract:	An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) during the excavation of foundation trenches at the rear of the Crown Public House, High Street East, Uppingham, Rutland. The site lies within the historic core of Uppingham with the potential for the survival of archaeological deposits of a medieval date. The watching brief revealed a wall and a number of pit features and medieval pottery. The archive will be deposited with Rutland County Museum with accession number RT05.2005
