Abstract: |
A programme of archaeological building recording and evaluation was undertaken in July 2006 at the former site of Taunton Cider Company premises, Norton Fitzwarren, Somerset (NGR ST 19502585). This was carried out in advance of proposed residential redevelopment of the site and supplemented a programme of historic building assessment undertaken as part of an overall environmental impact assessment. Further work was carried out on Building 2, Morse''s House and Building 3, Home Place/Eden Mead specifically assessment of the building fabric and roof structure, and the production of measured plans and cross-sections. Building 2 revealed evidence to suggest that it dated to the early part of the 17th century with good survival of the original fabric on both the interior and exterior. Building 3 appeared to date to the 17th century with good survival of the exterior fabric and fenestration pattern but more limited survival of interior fabric. |
