Abstract:		 Archaeological Investigations Ltd. was commissioned to undertake archaeological monitoring of the site, which was an open yard occupying the centre of a triangular plot of properties. These were believed to have been established by infilling the medieval market place dating to just after the Norman conquest. The work entailed a radar survey and investigation of sub-strata through the excavation of 6 trial holes. Comparison of the results from these two exercises demonstrated that a large area of the site contained dumped soil with occasional pieces of late post-medieval pottery, cbm and animal bone. No archaeological features were found during the excavation works for the test pits but a few late post-medieval sherds of pottery were recovered.
