Abstract: |
Archenfield Archaeology was commissioned to carry out an evaluation of 0.78 hectares of land adjacent to Dark Lane, Leintwardine to the north of the town. Six trenches covering a total of 116 square metres were located to target anomalies after a magnetic geophysics survey by Archaeophysica. The majority of the trenches showed plough soil containing unstratified ceramics of Roman and later date and natural stratigraphy. However, in one of the trenches an oven or kiln containing heated red clay and heavy charcoal deposits was discovered. The date of this is uncertain. |
