Abstract:		 An archaeological watching brief was carried out by ULAS during ground-works at Derby Road, Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire, (SK 356 168). The work was commissioned from ULAS by T. Denman and Sons in advance of the construction of new shops and flats at the site. The site was seen to have some potential for medieval and post-medieval archaeological remains due to its location close to the centre of Ashby. By the time of the watching brief the building that had occupied the site had been demolished. The reduction of soils down to the appropriate levels was observed. Only the southern part of the site was stripped as the northern part lay on a slightly lower level. No archaeological features or finds associated with archaeological features were discovered during the ground-works. The archive for this project will be deposited with Leicestershire County Council with accession number X.A60.2008.
