Abstract: |
The desk based assessment highlighted the distinct possiblity that archaeological features would be encountered on the proposed route of the intended pipeline. The nature of the expected archaeology would be Mid to late Saxon settlement. The aerial photographs show two crop mark systems which could be prehistoric or Roman in origin in the vicinity of the proposed pipeline route. Hard standing and tracks of the WWII airfield have also been mapped, and the munitions storage area identified. |
