Abstract:		 A Watching Brief revealed the extent of underground 19th century brick structures characterised by their tunnel-like nature and commonly named ''the catacombs''. These structures housed traders and appear to have stored goods for railways and associated businesses. The tunnels also provide a solid support for a widespread goods yard established in the 19th century
