Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was carried out on groundworks associated with the retail development at the Bon Accord Centre, Aberdeen. The watching brief identified medieval features in addition to those recorded during evaluation and excavation in 2007. In particular, a medieval timber-lined well was excavated and recorded. Artefacts, including large quantities of worked timber, were recovered from the well and other cut features. These will require post-excavation processing and analyses. The waterlogged nature of many deposits contributed to the potential of the environmental samples recovered from the site in providing important data for the understanding of the economy of late medieval and post-medieval Aberdeen. |
