Abstract: |
The archaeological evaluation, excavation of a 15m trench, revealed a single feature. The only feature was a large 19th century pit, probably the result of gravel extraction. Archaeological investigation, in previous years, at nearby locations had revealed evidence of a significant Anglo-Saxon presence in the area. Surprisingly no features of an Anglo-Saxon date were present within the trench of this investigation. The only suggestion of an Anglo-Saxon presence was retrieval of a single small sherd of Anglo-Saxon pottery and two small fragments of Niedermending lava. |
