Abstract:		 In late November 2004 Alex Thompson and Jonathan Hunn undertook some remedial archaeological work at Bridgewater School on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council. This was as a result of the construction of a new classroom on the eastern side of the site. Most of the site was not recorded during the initial ground works phase but the remains of a Late Iron Age/Roman ditch was observed on the northern edge of the new building platform. This contained 1st century pottery, iron slag, a fragment of iron and a fragment of a sharpening stone. Apart from the loss of 28m of ditch it is not known what other archaeological features were destroyed during the present development.
