Abstract: |
A single evaluation trench measuring 28m long was excavated for a utility pipe across the projected line of Hadrian's Wall. It revealed the robbed-out foundation trench for the Wall, the Wall Ditch and its associated earthen bank. Later disturbance then occurred during the post-medieval period. Two fragments of Roman mortar and a sherd of medieval pottery were the oldest items recovered. |
