Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was carried out at HMP Perth as part of an ongoing re-development programme. The site had originally been developed as a Napoleonic prisoner-of-war camp and was subsequently converted into Scotland's first general prison. The evaluation consisted of a single trench, adjacent to the category-B listed hospital block, which revealed both the position of the 1811 perimeter wall of the prison and stone and concrete sturctures associated with 20th century activity. |
