Abstract: |
Archaeological recording carried out by Katharine Sawyer for Mr and Mrs J Banfield between August 2009 and March 2010 during the demolition of a holiday letting unit in a former agricultural outbuilding and the excavation of groundworks for the construction of a new house for local needs housing at Middle Tinks, Holy Vale, St Mary's, Isles of Scilly (NGR SV 9203 1150). The feature, presumably a wall or bank, which appears on the 1891 and 1909 maps to the east of Middle Tinks, was not found, although a single large dressed stone may have been from it. No archaeological features were uncovered during the course of the work and the only finds were late 19th/early 20th century pottery from the topsoil. |
