Abstract: |
Sutton Archaeological Services (SAS) carried out an archaeological evaluation at the 60 Church Road and land fronting Rosedene Terrace and Wilmot Road, Leyton, London, E10. The site lay in an area of archaeological importance as defined in London Borough of Waltham Forest's Unitary Development Plan. Research by Sutton Archaeological Services for the research design indicated that there was Roman archaeology and/or activity in the surrounding area. Five trenches were excavated across the site revealing concrete over the sub-soil and natural sand and gravel. Trench 1 revealed 19th/20th century disturbance at the southern end of the trench. This disturbance may relate to the building of the 19th/20th century buildings and gardens than once occupied the site. No Roman archaeology was found and the only finds were modern (19th to 20th century) Ceramic building Material (CBM). |
