Abstract: |
In February and March 2009 Archaeological Solutions (AS) carried out a programme of archaeological monitoring and recording at 24 Stoke Newington Common, London, N16 7PU (NGR TQ 3405 8658). The monitoring was undertaken in fulfilment of a planning condition required in connection with the conversion of the existing house, including excavation of a new basement and light wells (Planning Ref. 2008/1942). Despite the potential for archaeological remains to be present on the site, especially for the Palaeolithic period, no archaeological features or finds were located within the area of the new basement and light wells. A layer of gravel (L1007), which had the potential for Palaeolitic material, was present only in the north-eastern part of the site. |
