Abstract: |
In August 2009, Archaeological Solutions (AS) carried out a programme of an archaeological evaluation of St. Luke's Church Site, Strafford Street, London (NGR TQ 3727 7972). The evaluation was undertaken in compliance with a planning condition attached to the planning permission for the construction of new residential units and the re-development of the church building. The site is located in the north-eastern corner of the Isle of Dogs, to the south of Canary Wharf. The evaluation revealed no archaeological features or finds. Deep natural alluvial and river terrace deposits present on the site were assessed for their environmental potential, but this proved to be low. |
