Abstract: |
A second season of excavation was carried out at the cropmark promontory fort overlooking Cults Loch, as part of the Cults Landscape Project. Four trenches were opened in the interior of the fort and over the enclosing fortifications. Much of the interior of the fort was devoid of archaeological features, but a series of enclosing palisade slots and a range of pit and posthole features were recorded close to the entrance excavated in 2009. A further trench over the defences encountered waterlogged wood beneath the collapse of the rampart. |
