Abstract:		 In late July and early August 2004 an archaeological watching brief was undertaken on a building extension to Applegarth, Stocks Road, Aldbury, Hertfordshire. There were no significant archaeological features found with the exception of a fine brick well or cistern at the corner of the development. This is believed to date to the second half of the 19th century and must pre-date the creation of a piped water supply in the early 20th century.
