Abstract: |
In March 2005 historic building recording was undertaken on the Six Tunnels Farmhouse, Gaddesden Row, Herts. The farmhouse, a Grade II listed building, is described in the listing as having 17th century or earlier origins. This appears to be based on the large brick chimney stack which gives the property its name. The building recording revealed that the fabric of Six Tunnels Farmhouse dates from the 19th century with mid 20th century rebuilding of the SW end and late 19th/20th century outbuildings attached to the NE end. Internally a few original 19th century fittings survive. Externally the building is largely unaltered save for the 20th rebuilding of the SW end due to bomb damage. |
